Question: '08 Nissan Sentra remote start/smart key -won't start

Car is locked up and won't allow me to start it. The usual process is to remote start car, depress brake, wait 4 seconds after car shuts off, then turn ignition on to start car. It won't let me do the last step. HELP please! I need my car today, esp. also for dr. appt tomorrow morning!
